Common Good VT's Nonprofit Management (NPM) Certificate provides immediately applicable training in the core competencies of nonprofit management and emerging nonprofit issues. This is a unique opportunity for people who want to make a serious investment in their mission-driven careers.
The program is Vermont's longest-standing training program for nonprofit leaders. For over 14 years, this renowned program has fostered professional growth for executive directors, staff, and emerging leaders from Vermont and Northern New England.




Who Should Apply?

Whether you are currently in a leadership position or are new to the sector, this program is for you. The Certificate Program is designed for active practitioners and leaders in Northern New England’s vibrant nonprofit community. Professionals transitioning to the nonprofit sector or who are starting their own nonprofit are also welcome.


When is the Program?

The 2024 program will launch this fall with bi-weekly trainings on Thursdays (9 AM - 2:00 PM via Zoom) from October 10th through January 24th: October 10th, October 24th, November 7th, November 21st, December 5th, December 19th, January 9th, and January 23rd.

The program offers additional (optional) learning opportunities to participants seeking learning outside of the core lessons. We strive to adapt the content of our program to the current needs of nonprofit professionals and their organizations, so these topics may shift depending on cohort needs.

What is Included in the Program?

This virtual program includes a mix of self-guided learning and homework assignments, bi-weekly virtual classes, and cohort discussions. Our list of trainers and speakers include some of Vermont’s leading nonprofit consultants, funders, and policymakers who support Vermont’s nonprofit sector.

Participants will receive additional nonprofit resources such as the Northern New England Nonprofit Wages & Benefits Report (value of $200).

What is the Program Cost?

The Certificate in Nonprofit Management is designed to support the success and professional development of nonprofit leaders, and at $2200, is a valuable investment in building your personal leadership capacity.


There is an early bird discount of $400 for applicants applying and returning signed paperwork by EOD August 2nd.





Program Application

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. This year's program will be capped at 35 participants with preference for applicants working in Vermont for Vermont-based organizations.


Financial Assistance

The 2024 deadline to apply for scholarship funds is August 16, 2024.

Options for financial assistance:
  • TD Bank Nonprofit Resources Grant (rolling monthly, limit of one grant per year per organization).
  • VSAC Advancement Grant is for Vermont residents enrolled or planning to enroll in a non-degree course or training program (need based on household income).
